Drafts and editing – free on the Starter plan

AI for research papers

Enter a topic and pick a section – alongside you get the skeleton of an article in the structure peer-reviewed journals expect, with the chosen section expanded into a draft. Square brackets mark where your own data goes.

Section

AI helps with structure and wording, but it can invent a reference, an author or a figure. Find and check sources yourself – in a research library or against the original.

Prompt sent to the chat: «Draft an abstract for a research paper on “The impact of remote work on employee engagement in IT companies”: 150–250 words, following “problem – aim – methods – results – significance”. Do not make up results or sources: where data is missing, leave a note in square brackets.»

What the AI does, and what only you can do

The AI did not run your experiment and has not read your sources. But it handles everything to do with the text around your results well.

The AI

  • suggests an outline for the article or dissertation chapters;
  • words the aim, objectives, rationale and contribution from your input;
  • drafts the abstract and keywords;
  • turns your notes and drafts into academic style;
  • trims the text to the journal’s limits;
  • translates the abstract.

You

  • collect the data and are responsible for the results;
  • choose the literature and check every reference – the AI may cite an article that does not exist;
  • verify the figures, formulas and terminology of your field;
  • format the references in the style the journal requires;
  • agree the text with your supervisor.

What a research paper is made of

Most journals use the same order of sections. Check the exact length and formatting in your journal’s author guidelines – you can paste them into the chat along with your request.

From notes to academic style

Write the thought however it comes out, and the AI turns it into the language of a paper. The meaning and the figures stay yours.

People working from home seem to burn out less, but they also get less involved in team stuff.

The transition to remote work is accompanied by lower burnout scores alongside reduced engagement in team processes.

We asked 214 people, and almost two thirds said working from home is more convenient.

The survey involved 214 respondents; 64% of them rated the remote format as more convenient.

In the second example the AI replaced “almost two thirds” with an exact share only because the author supplied it. If there is no data, ask it to leave the wording as it is. For the final proofread, use the spelling and grammar checker page.

Translating the abstract and keywords

Many journals ask for the title, abstract and keywords in English as well as the language of the article. Paste your finished abstract and ask for an academic translation with the established terms of your field. Check any terms you are unsure of against colleagues’ papers in English.

Dissertation

Master’s thesis and PhD

The AI will not write your dissertation – and it should not. But at the start it saves weeks: it suggests a chapter outline, helps you word the research questions, aim, objectives and the main claims of the thesis, and later helps turn chapter drafts into connected text.

For smaller papers – essays and reports – there is a page on essays.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI write a whole research paper?

A text – yes; a research paper – no: it has to contain your data, your analysis and real sources. Use AI for structure, drafts and editing, and keep the substance your own.

Can I trust a reference list from AI?

No. AI can invent a plausible article with the real names of authors. Choose sources yourself and ask the AI to help group and summarise what you have already read.

Which AI is best for research papers?

TryChat has several text models, including GPT and Claude. For long connected texts, try the same task on two models and keep the version closer to your style.

Will it help with a master’s thesis or a PhD?

With the chapter outline, wording the aim, objectives and contribution, academic style and cutting the text – yes. The research, the conclusions and responsibility for the text stay with you and your supervisor.

Is it free?

Yes, working with text is part of the Starter plan with 30 units of energy. If you have many requests, get Lite or Basic.

How do I make the text sound scholarly rather than like a textbook?

Give it a sample: a paragraph from a paper in your target journal or from your previous work, and ask it to write in the same style. Also name the field: “sociology”, “mechanical engineering”, “clinical medicine”.
