Make a personal or family budget
Enter your income and pick a scheme – the amounts per category update at once. Then the AI in the chat splits them across your actual spending and builds a plan-versus-actual table.
Half of the income goes to needs, 30% to wants, 20% to savings.
TryChat is not a financial adviser. The calculation is an example of splitting income, not a recommendation. Check decisions about loans, deposits and investments with a professional.

How to make a monthly budget
Five steps that work for a personal budget and a family one alike.
- 1
Work out your take-home income
Salary after tax, side jobs, benefits, interest on savings. Count irregular income at the lowest figure of the last six months, not the best month.
- 2
List the fixed payments
Rent or mortgage, utilities, loans, phone, transport, childcare. This is the amount you cannot cut this month.
- 3
Look at your real spending
A bank statement for 2–3 months is more honest than memory. Copy the transactions into the chat without card numbers – the AI sorts them into categories.
- 4
Set limits
Pick a scheme in the calculator above and adjust it: if rent eats 45% of your income, the 50/30/20 rule has to shift.
- 5
Compare plan and actual
Once a week, 10 minutes. Cover overspending in one category from another, not from savings.
Joint, separate or proportional
The main argument in a family budget is not what to spend on but who pays how much. The AI works out any option.
One shared pot
All income is pooled; spending and savings are planned together. Easy to run, but you need an agreement on personal spending – for example, a fixed amount for each partner.
Separate
Each pays for their own things, and shared bills are split equally. Works when incomes are close. If one earns twice as much, the other puts a noticeably larger share of their income into the shared pot.
In proportion to income
Incomes of 90,000 and 60,000 ₽ are 60% and 40% of the combined 150,000 ₽. Shared expenses of 100,000 ₽ are split the same way: 60,000 and 40,000 ₽. Each partner plans the rest on their own.
A budget table: plan, actual and difference
| Category | Plan | Actual | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Groceries | 25,000 | 27,400 | −2,400 |
| Transport | 8,000 | 6,900 | 1,100 |
| Eating out | 6,000 | 7,800 | −1,800 |
| Utilities | 9,500 | 9,500 | 0 |
| Total | 48,500 | 51,600 | −3,100 |
Ask in the chat: “make a monthly family budget table with plan, actual and difference columns and formulas for Excel”. The table arrives as text and the formulas as ready lines that you paste into the cells yourself.
=B2-C2– difference: plan minus actual=SUM(B2:B5)– column total=SUMIF(Spending!A:A,A2,Spending!C:C)– actual from the spending log=IF(C2>B2,"over","within limit")– a flag
For other formulas or a macro, see the AI for Excel page. A chart of spending by category can be made on the diagrams page.
A personal financial plan and goal
A goal without a deadline and an amount is a wish. With them, it is a plan with a clear monthly contribution.
Goal amount ÷ number of months = monthly contribution
A 180,000 ₽ holiday in 8 months means 22,500 ₽ a month. If that is too much, the AI suggests options: move the deadline to 10 months (18,000 ₽ a month) or find the money in categories where you overspend.
Emergency fund first, then goals
A common guideline is a reserve of 3–6 months of essential expenses. With 60,000 ₽ of expenses a month, that is 180,000 to 360,000 ₽. Ask for a step-by-step plan: emergency fund, short goals within a year, big goals – with amounts by month.
Where the money goes: a spending review in the chat
Paste your spending for the month as it is – as a list or lines from a statement. This is what the answer looks like.
My spending in October: groceries 18,400, cafés and delivery 7,900, taxis 4,300, subscriptions 1,290, online marketplaces 9,600. Where am I overspending?
The month’s total is 41,490 ₽.
Groceries take the most: 18,400 ₽, which is 44% of spending.
Delivery and taxis together come to 12,200 ₽, 29%. Cutting delivery by a third would free up about 2,600 ₽ a month.
Subscriptions are 1,290 ₽. Check which ones you use at least once a week.
This is a sample answer. The figures are worked out from your data – double-check the total before changing the plan.
TryChat is not a financial adviser
The AI helps you count and organise: split your income, build a table, find unnecessary spending, work out how long saving will take. It does not pick a bank, deposit, loan or investment, and it does not know about commitments you have not mentioned. Double-check the calculations, and discuss decisions about loans, taxes and investments with a professional.

FAQ
How do we make a family budget if our incomes differ?
The easiest way is to split shared expenses in proportion to income: whoever earns 60% of the combined income pays 60% of the shared costs. Enter both incomes and the list of shared expenses in the chat – the AI works out the shares and amounts.
What is the 50/30/20 rule and will it suit me?
Half of the income goes to needs, 30% to wants, 20% to savings. If rent alone takes more than 40% of your income, the scheme has to shift, for example to 60/25/15. The calculator above shows the amounts for any scheme.
Will the AI make a budget table?
Yes, as text in the chat: “category – plan – actual – difference” columns and formulas that you paste into Excel or Google Sheets. The table is not provided as a separate file.
Can it review my spending from a bank statement?
Copy the transactions from the statement into the chat as text and remove card and account numbers. The AI sorts the spending into categories, adds up the totals and shows where you overspend.
How much should go into an emergency fund?
A common guideline is 3–6 months of essential expenses. It is a general rule, not a recommendation for your situation: TryChat is not a financial adviser.
Will it tell me where to invest my savings?
No. The AI can explain how a fixed deposit differs from a savings account, but it does not pick a product or a bank. For investments and loans, talk to a professional.
Can I make a budget for free?
Yes. It is a text scenario: it works on the Starter plan with 30 units of energy at no cost.
