Tap any underlined word.

The explanation appears here: which rule was broken and how to remember it next time. In the chat the AI answers the same way – with a list of edits and explanations.

Three levels of checking

Spelling, punctuation and style

A regular checker underlines a word and suggests a replacement. The AI understands what the sentence means, so it also catches what a dictionary lets through.

Spelling

Words that are in the dictionary, just not here

“Their” and “there”, “affect” and “effect”, “lose” and “loose” are all real words – whether it is a mistake depends on the meaning.

we could loose the deal → we could lose the deal

Punctuation

Commas, dashes and introductory words

Participle phrases, direct address, “however” at the start and in the middle of a sentence, comma splices, a colon before a list.

Having returned home we → Having returned home, we

Style

Repetition, officialese, clumsy phrasing

Only on request: “fix the errors and improve the style”. Without that phrase the AI leaves your wording alone – you get the same text, just correct.

we carry out the performance of a check → we check

With the rules explained

It fixes the text and tells you why

Ask it to “explain every edit”, and the corrected text comes with a list: what it was, what it became and which rule applied. After a couple of weeks those mistakes stop coming back.

If a rule is unclear, ask right in the dialogue: “why is there no comma before ‘which’ here?” – the AI will break down your own sentence, with examples.

Check and explain the edits: “Please send the documents by Friday, we’ll get back to you in two days time”

Corrected text:
Please send the documents by Friday; we’ll get back to you in two days’ time.

What was fixed:

  1. , we’ll → ; we’ll – two complete sentences cannot be joined with a comma alone.
  2. two days time → two days’ time – a plural possessive takes the apostrophe after the s.

A 40-page paper? Send it in parts

Send a short text in one go. Send a long one section by section in a single dialogue: no page gets lost, and the checking rules stay the same.

  1. 1

    Set the rules

In the first message: “I will send the text in parts. Fix only the errors, don’t change the wording, list the edits”.

  2. 2

Send one section at a time

Introduction, chapter, conclusion – each part as a separate message. Copy each corrected piece into your document straight away.

  3. 3

    Check consistency

At the end: “check that quotation marks, dashes, abbreviations and numbers are formatted the same way everywhere”. This is what manual proofreading misses most often.

Not just typed text

Checking photos and other languages

Photo of a handwritten notebook page to be checked for spelling and punctuation by AI

Take a photo of the page

A notebook, a printout, a chat screenshot. The AI types out the text, marks the errors and explains them. Shoot from above in good light; very messy handwriting is better retyped. More on working with photos on the photo analysis page.

Spanish, German and other languages

A letter to a partner abroad, an essay, a cover letter. The AI fixes grammar, tenses, articles and prepositions, and explains the edits in the language you ask for.

What it fixes most often when English is not your first language:

  • subject–verb agreement in the present tense;
  • an auxiliary verb where none is needed;
  • articles, prepositions and word order in questions.

Need a translation as well as a clean text? That is on the AI translator page.

Ready-made requests

For study and for work

Tap a request and it goes into the form at the top. Then just paste your text.

School and university

Check an essay before handing it in, proofread a report or a term paper. If the text is not written yet, start on the essay page.

Work and business

A letter to a client, a post, a product description, an ad. If the letter still needs writing, see the business letters page, and to rewrite a finished text, try paraphrasing.

Frequently asked questions

Is the spelling and punctuation check really free?

Yes. It is a text scenario and works on the Starter plan, which has 30 units of energy. In TryChat only image generation is paid.

Won’t the AI rewrite my text its own way?

Not if you say so: “fix only the errors, don’t change the words or their order”. The “Correct only” button in the form at the top adds that phrase for you.

How do I check a text for spelling and punctuation at once?

With one request: “check the spelling and punctuation”. The AI checks both the letters and the commas, dashes and colons. To see exactly where the errors were, ask for a list of edits.

Can I trust the corrections one hundred percent?

The AI rarely makes mistakes, but it does – especially with deliberate stylistic punctuation and rare words. For an important text, ask for an explanation of every edit: if a rule sounds odd, ask again.

What if the text is very long, like a thesis?

Send it chapter by chapter in one dialogue, setting the rules in the first message. A large volume uses more energy: if 30 units are not enough, Lite or an energy pack will help.

Can I check handwritten text from a photo?

Yes, if the handwriting is legible and the page is shot straight. The AI first types out the text – check that it read everything correctly – and then finds the errors.
