Name your character and your fictional world with AI
Pick what you are naming, the genre and the character’s role, describe the world in a few words – eight examples with meanings appear on the right and the request builds below. In the chat, the AI comes up with ten new names for your world.
Prompt sent to the chat: «Come up with 10 names for a character: a male name, role – hero, genre – fantasy. World: “a northern kingdom on the edge of an icy sea, mages exiled, ruled by a merchant guild”. Add a surname or a nickname to each and, in one line, its meaning or origin. The names must be new, not from well-known books, games or films, and easy to read in English.»
Names and titles are a text scenario, free on the Starter plan (30 units of energy). A character portrait or a cover image comes with plans from Lite at ₽690.

A first name and surname for a character in a book, game or fanfic
A name works when the reader understands, from the first appearance, where the character comes from and how to feel about them. So three things matter in the request: genre, role and world. “Fantasy, villain, northern kingdom” brings heavy consonants and nicknames; “contemporary, heroine, suburb” brings an ordinary first name and surname that sit naturally in the text.
Ask for the surname right away: without it the character goes nameless in half the scenes. For fantasy and historical fiction, a nickname from a trade or a place works – Collier, Notch, Istrem. For anime style, the AI picks a Japanese sound and writes the name in romaji the way fans know it: Hayato Iwase.
If you already have characters, paste the list and ask for “new names in the same style but starting with different letters” – readers will not mix them up.
Oddrun the Elder
An old northern name plus a title from her standing in the community. The reader sees age and authority at once; no surname needed.
Gideon Marsh
A biblical first name and a short surname with an “sh”: sounds confident and cold, right for a colony administrator who betrayed everyone.
Patience Notch
A 17th-century virtue name and a surname like a mark, a notch. Someone with a sign on her, someone people remember.
Ignatius Spinner
A rare but real first name and a surname from a trade. It fits a story about the suburbs and sticks from the first page.
Names for countries, cities, villages, islands and planets
Place names in a world should sound related: if the capital is Kel-Tammar, the village next door cannot be Springfield. Describe the language and climate of your world, and the AI keeps one style across the whole map.
Country and empire
A long official name plus what locals say: “the Kingdom of Ivor” and just “Ivor”. Ask for both and for the adjective: Ivorian.
City and village
Cities are named after a river, a trade or an event: Saltmarket, Steepbank. A village needs one word with a clear root so the reader does not stumble.
Island and planet
For sci-fi, the AI suggests a catalog index and an everyday name: “Kessel-9” on the charts, “Nine” among the colonists. It adds depth to the world without extra paragraphs.
Castle and fortress
A castle carries the name of a family or of what happened there: Ravenstone, Duskshore. Ask for a name and a two-sentence legend – it comes in handy in the text.
Names for clans, guilds, servers and alliances
A clan name lives in two places: in full in the description and as a 3–4 letter tag next to a nickname. “Brotherhood of the Quiet Ford” becomes [QFB], and the tag has to read well even for those who never saw the full name. Ask the AI for the name together with the tag and to check that the tag does not spell an awkward word.
For a server or alliance, say what brings people together: region, play style, age. “A clan for relaxed evening play, members 30+” gives one set of names; “a tournament roster” gives another. An emblem for the name can be made in the same chat on the logo page: it is an image, available on plans from Lite at ₽690.
- Order of the Ashen Key
- Tag: [OAK]
- Why it works: The image of a closed order, and the tag reads as a word
- Zero Orbit Syndicate
- Tag: [ZOS]
- Why it works: Sci-fi, sounds like a corporation
- Steepbank Free Company
- Tag: [SFC]
- Why it works: Historical, tied to a place
- Cats on the Wires
- Tag: [CTW]
- Why it works: For a relaxed evening clan
- Silver Cicada Squad
- Tag: [SCS]
- Why it works: Anime style, an image from nature
Titles for books, fairy tales and short stories
Six moves the AI runs through in one request
An object from the plot (“The Key to the Winter Door”), a place (“Namiura, Rainy Season”), a hero with a detail (“The Miller Who Stole the Moon”), a contrast (“Ash and Heather”), a number (“Nine Domes”) and one punchy word (“Steepbank”). Ask for two titles per move – and you will have plenty to choose from.
For a fairy tale, add the reader’s age: a five-year-old needs the hero in the title, a teenager needs intrigue. Paste a short summary or the first chapter, and the AI picks a title for your text rather than for the genre in general.
The story itself, with these names, can be written right here: short stories and fairy tales in TryChat. An illustration to color in – on the coloring pages page.

How not to repeat a famous name
The AI has read the same books you have, and sometimes hands you someone else’s hero with one letter changed. It does not check whether a name is taken – you do, and it takes three minutes.
- 1
Search the name
Put the full name in quotes into a search engine. If the first page is fan wiki pages, the name is taken. For a clan, search the tag together with the game’s name.
- 2
Ask “what does it remind you of”
Ask in the same chat: “which famous characters do these names resemble?” The AI will name the associations honestly, and you drop the doubtful ones.
- 3
A two-step shift
If you like a name but it feels too familiar, ask to “change it so the rhythm stays but the resemblance goes” – a new root and stress, not one letter.
FAQ
Will the AI come up with a first name and a surname at once?
Yes, the generator’s request asks for a name with a surname or nickname and a meaning for each. If you only need first names, write “no surnames”; for the full set – “first name, surname, nickname and what friends call them”.
Can I get a name for a female character or an anime character?
Yes. Choose “Character”, “Female” and the genre you need. For anime style, the AI picks a Japanese sound and writes the name in romaji, the way fans know it, and adds the kanji meaning on request.
Will it name a city, country or planet for my book?
Yes. Choose “City or country”, set the genre and describe the world in a few words: language, climate, who rules. The AI suggests ten names in one style, with an official and an everyday form.
How do I know the name is not from a famous book or game?
The AI does not guarantee it. Search the chosen name in quotes and ask in the chat which characters it resembles. If there is a resemblance, ask to change the root while keeping the rhythm.
Can it make a clan name with a short tag for a game?
Yes. Choose “Clan or guild”: the request asks for a 3–4 letter tag for each name. Whether the tag is free on your server, check in the game itself – the AI cannot look there.
Is it free? How many names will I get?
Free: names and titles are a text scenario, part of the Starter plan with 30 units of energy. One request brings ten options; then ask for “ten more, with a different sound”. Only images are paid: a character portrait, an emblem, a cover – from Lite at ₽690.
Can I write a story with these names right away?
Yes, in the same chat: “write the first chapter where Aldric Valmar meets Oddrun the Elder”. The AI remembers the chosen names and world. There is a separate page for this – short stories and fairy tales.
